Millions of Cycles at Pak N Save

In Oct 2004 the Pak N Save store on Lincoln Rd in Henderson, Auckland opened its doors. It is the busiest Pak N Save supermarket in NZ.

Ace Door Systems installed a Nergeco Forum Star 2 fast acting door between the shop and back storeroom. Measuring 3m x 3m, the Forum Star 2 allows efficient stock and personnel movement to the retail area while maintaining separation to the store areas behind. By opening and closing quickly, the Forum Star 2 keeps wind and dust from the retail area as well as visually shielding the behind-the-scenes areas from shoppers.

With members of the public in proximity to the door, an important criteria for the fast acting door is safety. Forum Star 2 was the perfect choice for Pak N Save with safety features like:

• Limited closing pressure which conforms to European H&S standards for public areas;
• "Soft-sprung" bottom edge without a solid bottom bar; and
• Patented anti-fall device.

Since commissioning, the Forum Star 2 has completed over 2.5 million cycles and is still going strong. This doorway is the main access for all staff and stock to the store. With regular servicing, apart from the odd wear and tear repair, the door has been trouble free. In such a critical application where reliability and safety are paramount, the Forum Star 2 is doing a great job.
